In the photograph above, the line of bushes follow the right bank, Thornley side of the Gassy Gutter. The colliery and pit heap (now a low, tree-lined mound) were to the right rear. In the reverse angle photo below, the old Gassy is just a shadow of its former self, but the old path by the side of it is still there--and still in use. Next picture.
