7-8/11/41 Berlin. WW’s eighth mission. One 101 Squadron aircraft lost, Wellington 1C R1701. SR-K. Last heard of on radio attempting to ditch off Dutch coast. No trace of crew found: P/O W D C Hardie, Sgt B J Rampling, P/O A L Miller RCAF, Sgt W Buchan, Sgt W Watson, Sgt R A Berry.

30-1/11-12/41 Hamburg. WW’s ninth mission. Two 101 Squadron aircraft lost:

Wellingon 1C R1778, SR-G. Crashed in North Sea off Danish coast. Four crew died: Sgt D A Willisson (pilot), R St C Finch, Sgt D E Williams, Sgt K Naylor. Two crew rescued by Danish fishing boat and made POW: Sgt J W Lamont, Sgt L G C Dimond.

Wellington 1C R3295 SR-P. Ditched off the Dutch coast. All six crew survived and made POW: Sgt P Winfield (pilot), Sgt W L Johnson, RCAF, Sgt I G Davies, Sgt T A Cooke, Sgt A W J Cleeve, Sgt A L R Heath. Sgt Heath later became a prominent abstract artist postwar.

W Wigham's aircraft: 'Navigator lost his bearing. Bombed alternative target.' Wigham's pilot was Sgt Callender, who is noted in the Squadron Operational Record Book as having bombed an alternative target.

28-29/3/42 Lubeck. WW’s 19th mission. No 101 Sq aircraft lost. W Wigham's aircraft: 'Weather fine. No opposition.' The Baltic city of Lubeck was devastated in the most successful RAF raid of the war thus far.
