So far as POWs in Germany are concerned, names have been checked against the nominal register of 107,000 POWs listed in the book Prisoners of War British Army 1939-45. This is a 1990 reprint of an official 1945 HMSO publication and records all known POWs in Germany as of April 1945.

So far as prisoners of the Germans are concerned, the camp listed in each entry is the camp the POW was held at in early 1945, though most, particularly those captured in Africa, would have been held at several other camps prior to this. The Germans assigned their own specific POW number to each POW and this is included for each POW after his British service number.
