Coopers Terrace as Coopers Close, a View from 2005 |

This is the view along the front of Coopers Close in 2005, the one-time Coopers Terrace of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Compared with the earlier picture from the 1950s, what is most interesting is the lack of fencing and the strange new slope of the open grassed area. The local council’s policy of the 1960s and 1970s was to deny people the privacy of their own front gardens and to insist on ugly, open plan wasted space like this. |
